Adult Basic Literacy Did you know ..... About 1 in 5 adults have problems with day-to-day literacy skills. These skills are needed to write shopping lists, compare prices, speak or practice English speaking, write cheques, read magazines; and they are essential for most jobs. Help is available - FREE! For adults living in and around Oyen and area the Adult Learning Centre has a reading and writing project called A.B.L.E. (Adult Basic Literacy Education). ABLE provides help. An adult student is paired with a trained, volunteer tutor. Together they plan the lessons and choose when and where to meet. The lessons are free and all information about the students is kept private. If you are an adult, of any age, and want help with basic skills please contact Darlene at (403)664-2060. As well as the Adult Basic Literacy Program, we offer a Preschool Family Reading Program and Books for Babies. For more information on these programs call Sherri at (403) 664-2060. | |||||||||||||||||
